Good Manners - July 31st

This may look like just an ordinary picture of a dog and cat co-existing in the same house. But, there is much more to this story. Not only do they share this water bowl, but they also take turns drinking water. Moments before this picture was taken, Charlie was drinking while Henley waited. Now, as Henley gets his drink, Charlie is patiently waiting on his next turn.

The Unemployed - July 30th

I met Tom at Starbuck's for coffee today discussing the life of being unemployed. We were sitting outside when it started to rain. We were smart enough to pick a table with an umbrella, but we were not smart enough to make sure it wasn't broken!

Rainy Days - July 29th

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby. ~Langston Hughes

Argh! - July 28th

This lovely garbage can has been sitting outside my house for 28 days now. I am waiting on them to come pick it up since I changed services. I call every week with empty promises of picking it up. This week I gave them an ultimatum - come pick it up or it's going to the garbage dump.

Who Needs Sleep? - July 27th

Sunday night I got home about 10pm from Karen's house. I was pretty tired, but for some reason could not fall asleep!

Are You There God? - July 26th

On Sunday mornings, I always try to remember things that God has blessed me with that day. Look at this view! The sun shining through a gorgeous oak tree, which only God could have created.

And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out the ground - trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.

Finally! - July 24th

After a couple months of jetski frustration, I finally found someone who could get this thing running. I had intended to take a picture at the lake this morning, but completely forgot. So, 2nd alternative is the jetski in the garage after the trip to the lake. There is still lots of time this summer for many trips to the lake!

Go Braves! - July 23rd

Last night the Braves beat the Giants 4-2 which secured a series sweep against the team leading the National League wild card race. The Phillies also lost, which brought the Braves within 5 1/2 games of the Eastern Division lead. The pennant race is officially here and the Braves are finally playing well. Go Braves!

Sportscenter - July 21st

Being inside many days, I have gotten in the habit of turning on SportsCenter. I see the same thing over and over again....

Why can't I turn it off???

But, it is much more fun when the Braves are playing well. Only 6.5 games behind the Phillies and 4 in the Wild Card. Watch out NL, here come the Braves!

GPS - July 20th

Last week at NPCC, we heard about being in "The Waiting Room". Yesterday at Buckhead Church, we heard what to do in the meantime while we are waiting on God. Well, we express Gratitude to God for all of our blessing. We are Persistent with the things we are asking of God. Lastly, we Surrender those things to God and let him take care of them.

Argh Working Out - July 16th

Today I'm trying to get back into going to the gym -yes again! Peru is just a little over 40 days away and I feel like I've lost the motivation I had before going to Europe.

July 15th - People

Today I woke up being very thankful for all of my family and friends in my life. I wanted to find something that I felt representative of them. Hair bands you ask? Well, important people come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They sometimes stretch away from you, but the good ones always come back. The bad ones are stretched out beyond their capability and are gone.

Job Search - July 14th

Today was suppose to be a day of working on my job search. Does it look like I'm looking for a job? I have been working at it hard (some days), but some days you just need a break to rejuvenate yourself.

need help little birdie? - July 13th

I found this little birdie in my yard this morning. He appears to be OK, but not flying for some reason. I tried putting him into a box to take to the vet, but he runs away from me every time. I'm going to keep my eye on him (and Charlie / Henley away from him) to make sure his momma comes to rescue him.

Just thought I'd give an update to the little birdie. It turns out he was not injured at all...just waiting on his momma. I saw him later with his brother/sister and his momma. I think she was teaching them to fly.

The Waiting Room - July 12th

Sunday was my first time back to church since returning from Europe. It was perfect timing as the message was being in "The Waiting Room". I find myself wondering if God remembers all the things I have been asking? Today was a day of being hopeful -- God does not forget his people and he is certainly not going to start with me.

Wee Hours of the Morning - July 11th

Friday night was a friend's 40th birthday celebration. We took The Fur Bus down to Buckhead to East Andrews for a Bon Jovi tribute band concert. This was taken with my iPhone of the band - very representative of the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The Old Guy - July 10th

Everyone knows how much I missed Charlie while I was traveling last week. So, I felt a little bad that I didn't mention Henley. Here's my little boy who is 19 1/2 years old taking one of his many daily naps. I did miss him just as much -- he's my snuggle kitty.

Back on Track? - July 9th

After many months of working out almost daily, I haven't been in the gym for almost 2 months now. Today, I had a new kickoff training session with Susanna. Hopefully, this will be the start of a new long string of working out.

Disarray - July 8th

My kitchen table is an out of control mess. This is how I feel about my life right now - out of control. This can be a good or bad thing - you decide.

Welcome Home Charlie - July 7th

This was a sight for sore eyes Tuesday morning. Charlie and Henley came home on Monday night. It was nice waking up and seeing Charlie beside the bed - right where he should be.

Missing Charlie - July 6th

This is the spot on the floor next to my bed where Charlie sleeps. I usually find him still sleeping in this spot when I wake up in the morning. On Monday morning, I woke up only to find him not there. I will go pick him up later in the day - missing my boys.

Fire of Champions - July 5th

We decided in lieu of eggs and bacon for breakfast that we were going to have leftover smores. So, we built a campfire that morning to have real roasted marshmallows.

July 4th Campsite

This is the first view coming out of our tent the morning of July 4th. Notice the ropes hanging from the trees, these kept our garbage high enough so that the raccoons could not reach them.
