Happy Halloween - October 31st

Tonight was re-do of last year's Halloween outing. It was a re-do in more ways than one. A great time was had by all! But, I think we have decided that next year will be a "re don't"!

Eastmountainsouth - October 29th

Tonight I saw Eastmountainsouth @ Eddie's Attic with Mayda, John, Kerryn and Mishana. They were really good. One of the members is Peter Bradley Adams who I saw here back in July. They are officially broken up, but are doing just a couple shows as a reunited band.

Eddie's Attic is officially being added to my list of "Favorite Things". If you've never seen a show there, then definitely make this one of your next places to visit. It's always a great show! The music room as great acoustics, inexpensive and the atmosphere cannot be beaten.

Ladies Day - October 28th

Today was ladies day at Mammoth Car Wash. Since my Jeep was a mess, I took it by for a nice hand wash.

Today's post also marks the beginning of something a little new. I've decided to create my own version of Nancy's "Favorite Things". These are in no specific order....just as I come across them I will share them. If you find something from my favorite things that you try for the first time, please let me know. The first "favorite thing" is Mammoth Car Wash. They do a great job everytime!

Puzzle Craze - October 27th

Chat gave me a puzzle last Saturday. This is becoming a great way for me to occupy my time and mind when I'm at home. It's really helping get my mind off not having Charlie and Henley around.

Tinkerbell - October 26th

Tinkerbell is mom's kitty and she is not normally a cuddle kitty. But, for some reason she was my buddy last night. She crawled up into my arms several times for a couple little cat naps. Isn't she cute?

Goldenrama - October 25th

This afternoon I went to the Adopt A Golden fundraiser for orphaned Goldens. They are so many sweet boys & girls needing homes. I was a little afraid it was going to be sad for me. It was sad, but it was also a nice distraction. Later, it was a classic fall evening at the Cagles Dairy Corn Maze. Phyllis and I had fun at the corn maze, making Smores (the breakfast of champions) and running into friends that we didn't expect to see there.

Game Night - October 24th

A fun night was had by all at Chat's game night. We laughed at Pit, Sequence and Domino's. Thanks Chat for a great night. It was the first time that I actually started to feel a little like my old self.

Old Friends - October 23rd

Tonight I had dinner with a very old & dear friend, Sandra. We reminisced about our lost pets. It was quite comforting to be with someone who truly knew what it was like to lose 2 pets close to each other.

Passion - October 22nd

Regardless if they are a true or crazy fan, there is something to be said about having passion about something. That is probably one of my pet peeves, passionless people. Everyone must have something they are passionate about - sports, God, people, pets....

If you don't know what your passion is -- go out and find it.

Sneakers - October 21st

Thanks to Steph, I had a DSW gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket. So, I decided to get out and do a little retail therapy (as Elizabeth would say).

Friends - October 20th

I had dinner with Hallie & Patrick last night. When they were in Italy (on their honeymoon), they went to a cooking class on making a real Italian dinner. Yes, that is them actually making their own pasta!
It's been a real life saver having such wonderful friends during this rough patch. I love you guys!!

True Love - October 19th

For Charlie & Henley -- there will never be a dog or cat as cool as the two of you. I miss you both, but I'm happy you are together.

The Wind, The Clouds... - October 18th

The wind, the clouds, the rain, the cold, the pain,
Yesterday he was fine
Always so kind.
Driving me insane,
I will sustain.
I'm looking for a sign;
Until, then I will resign.
I will continue to complain,
Dreary darkness go away,
Nothing but rain tonight.
Time releases the chain
And the chance of delight
I will continue to pray;
Oh yes. Charlie, we will be together again.

Remembering - October 17th

At the encouragement of my mom & Hallie, I went forward with my plans to attend the Alabama / South Carolina football game Saturday night. The Tide won 20-6 to continue on with their perfect season.

Going to see them play is somewhat spiritual for me. I know how much my brother loved Alabama football and I'm sure it makes him happy to know I'm there rooting them on in his place. I think of him every time I see them play.

RIP Charlie - October 16th

Charlie could not stand to be without his older brother and fell to his latest battle with cancer. He was absolutely the sweetest dog to walk this earth. These pictures are from our beach trip last summer. I tried to pick a few that I thought represented Charlie the most - his toys, him smiling and always being by my side to watch over me. I am going to miss my boy so much.

Palate - October 15th

Tonight was October new restaurant night with Hallie and Phyllis. I thought about canceling, but thought it would help to get out for a little while. We ate at Palate Cafe Bar in Oakhurst. Great little place -- food was great and so was the service!

RIP Henley - October 14th

Today my sweet kitty of 20 years passed away. I don't even remember what life was like without him.

Doors - October 13th

Seems like the past few weeks have been about closing and opening doors, both old and new.

Coming Home - October 12th

Dr. Joanne Roesner @ Loving Hands is our life saver. He is doing much better and coming home tonight. He has to come back tomorrow for some more fluids, but he is on the road to recovery.

Henley - October 11th

Everyone has heard that Charlie is sick again. Now Henley is sick too! He was diagnosed with kidney failure and is spending his time at Loving Hands Animal Hospital. I went to visit him today and he seems to be doing better. I'm very lucky in that I have a wonderful vet, Dr. Joann Roesner. I was concerned about Henley being at the hospital alone, so she is taking him home with her at night. He is not yet out of the woods, but doing better. He will be 20 years old next month!

Roll Tide - October 10th

Watched the Alabama / Ole Miss game @ Cheyenne Grill with Hallie & others. This is the official game watching site for Tide fans. It was a close game, but Bama won 22-3.

Willy's - October 8th

Today I met a friend for lunch @ Willy's - one of my favorite places. My typical lunch is their veggie quesadilla - yummy!

Get Out of the Boat - October 7th

My Wednesday night bible study group is doing the book "If You Want to Walk On Water, You've Got To Get Out of the Boat". So far, we have done the first 3 chapters but it's about leaving your comfort zone and finding your calling. It suggests that your calling is something that you are really passionate about in your life. After some thought, I think these are the areas I'm most passionate - animals, travel and baseball. Now, I am trying to figure out how I can incorporate these 3 areas into discovering my calling.

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - October 6th

Tonight I saw U2 @ the Georgia Dome. It was my 3rd time seeing them and I was not disappointed. My favorite part of the concert was when Bono sang the first part of "Amazing Grace" and then went into "Where the Streets Have No Name". If that didn't give you chill bumps, nothing will.

My theme song of the night was "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"...why? Well, I'm still looking for the next step in my career and the love of my life. I know they are both out there!!

Christmas in October - October 5th

It's a good thing you can buy Christmas cards now since there are only 82 days til' Christmas!

I Stink - October 4th

For most people, making Rice Krispy treats is one of the easier snacks to make. But, for whatever reason, I absolutely stink at them. I know how to make them, but I make careless mistakes every time. Today I accidently used a whole stick of butter (it only calls for 1/2 stick!).

Snow Patrol - October 3rd

For my birthday, John took me to see Snow Patrol @ The Tabernacle. They have slowly become one of my favorite bands. The concert was awesome and of course we ate at Taqueria del Sol (another favorite) beforehand. Thanks John!

Taste Test - October 2nd

Today Starbuck's launched it's very first instant coffee. So, they are asking everyone coming into a location to do the taste test to see if you can distinguish the instant from the brewed. I had no intentions of doing it since I'm not really a coffee drinker. But, they talked me into it. Would you believe the non-coffee drinker picked it out? I did!

Fall - October 1st

Fall was officially here on September 21st. But, today is really feels like Fall weather. I finally turned off the A/C this week and opened the windows! One day this week it was 49 when I woke up!
